International valuation event of fallow deer stock value and operational capability

Event takes place in three stages in different regions of Latvia

May 1^st Animal valuation and exposition in Riga district, Sigulda region, More parish, „Saulstari”, farm Z/S „Saulstari-1” – For Latvian farms

May 2^nd Animal valuation and exposition in Kuldīga district, Alsunga parish, „Ezernieki”, farm SIA „Kurland Hunting” – For Latvian farms

May 4^th For foreign and Latvian farms - Animal valuation, exposition and award ceremony in Aizkraukle district, Iršu parish, „Zemitani”, farm Z/S „Zemitāni”.

Animals are valuated:

- Fallow deer breeding stags are valuated by their antler trophies in 3 age groups:

Till 4 years old (incl.)

5 - 6 years old (incl.)

7 and more years old

- One animal can participate in valuation of one age group

- Antlers custed in spring 2009 and cut in autumn 2008 are valuated

- Animals from Latvian and foreign farms are valuated separately.

- For valuation each breeding farm can present up to 9 antler pairs

- Each antler must be marked with a label containing following information: country, farm, name/number of stag, year of birth, blood line

Valuation is managed by 5 people committee. Valuation standards of fallow deer breeding programme are approved by Latvian Wild Animal Breeders Association

Expositions. In 3 regional events are exhibited best animal antler trophies. Animal and antler valuation is demonstrated in farms.

Awards. Award ceremony takes place on May 4^th, in farm “Zemitani”. In each year group 3 best animals are awarded (9 awards together).
